A Lester Roloff Wannabe

I am not a singer, but a speaker. But when I was 4 or 5 years old, my dad would stand me on a box crate to sing during his tent crusades. (I also occasionally played piano-organ duets with Mom in dad’s pastorate when I was a young teenager.) I also remember singing “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” to close my sermon on Youth Sunday at Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth during my first year at seminary. I did it because Lester Roloff was a big influence on my early ministry.

Recently I sang again for the first time in many years. At the close of my sermon, I sang "I Would Love to Tell You What I Think of Jesus." After I sang, a lady said, “I didn’t know you could sing. You did all right!”
