Silliness Saying Grace

The kind hostess friend asked if I would say grace, so I said "grace." Tolerating my silliness, she asked me if I would bless the food. I said I did not have that particular ability. Then mocking exasperation, she asked if I would just ask God to bless it. I said I would not need to ask God to make effectual his provisions to meet our health needs, no more than I would need to pray for water to quench our thirst, or for the sun to warm our bodies, but instead, I would happily confess our need for his provisions and give thanks for his goodness and faithfulness to supply.
